What Is Silverlight?
Silverlight is a new implementation of multi-browser, cross-platform. NET Framework to build and deliver the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs) to the Internet. It works in all popular browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera. The plug-in required to run Silverlight is very small becomes installed very quickly.
It is a combination of different technologies in one platform unique development that allows you to select tools and programming languages you want. Silverlight integrates seamlessly with your existing JavaScript and ASP.NET AJAX code to complement functionality you have already created.
Silverlight aims to compete with Adobe Flash and the presentation components of Ajax. Also competes with Sun Microsystems JavaFX, which began a few days after Silverlight.
Features:
1. Built-in CLR engine that provides high performance execution environment for the browser. Silverlight CLR uses the same core engine that will send full. NET Framework.
2. Silverlight includes a rich library of built-in classes that you can develop a framework-based browser.
3. Silverlight supports a programming model of WPF UI. Silverlight 1.1 Alpha allows you to program the user interface with managed code / event handlers, and supports the ability to define and use the controls on the user interface enclosure.
4. Silverlight provides a fourth HTML DOM API that lets you run HTML program in a browser using A. NET.
5. Silverlight requires ASP.NET for use on the backend Web server (for example, you can use Silverlight with PHP on Linux, if you want).
6. Prvoides Silverlight Deep Zoom technology, derived from Microsoft Live Labs Seadragon. It allows users to enlarge or shrink the image (or a collage of images), with smooth transitions, using the mouse wheel. Images can be on a scale of 2 or 3 megapixel resolution gigapixel range, but the user does not need to wait for it to download completely, but the Silverlight download only the parts with a view optimized for the zoom level is displayed .
7. Silverlight allows limited access to the file system in Silverlight applications. You can use the native operating system file dialog box to access any file (which the user has access).

Silverlight application development
Silverlight Application Development Road-building proper rich Web applications
Silverlight is a web application development framework that enables and assists in creating rich interactive applications, bringing together graphics, animation and multimedia. Framework consists of the main presentation that is responsible for over all aspects of an application. It is also responsible for user interface (UI), the basic controls of the user interface, graphics and animation, media playback, interactivity and user input, DOM integration, Digital Restrictions Management (DRM .)
Silverlight application development also brings in the properties of the light class library with the help of components such as extensible controls, XML Web Services, networking components and Language Integrated Query (LINQ) Silverlight API, etc, Microsoft's home helps developers in creating and generating effects of high class value in the animation for giving effects like blur, leaflets and other easy as rebound effects, elastic effects, etc. This results the transition smoother animation that are in high demand by large companies and this is the right choice to give them that.
Microsoft Silverlight development also allows you to develop animated text effects where you can play with the animation of text with ease. Help in providing effective and efficient animation of text within an application. Microsoft Silverlight development of local sources of support that takes into account the faster load time and again this is really necessary in times when the job faster is not only necessary but also expected.
Some of the other benefits of development through the implementation of Silverlight:
• Provide more quality videos
• Silverlight enables cross-platform and cross browser compatibility that gives a wider scope of operation
• Two levels of application development process to allow developers and designers to work independently in their area of knowledge creation
• It is highly profitable. Almost no money that you need to spend and getting the best quality solutions at this price
• There is no language support available third party and therefore developers can use Ruby, Python and EcmaScript
• Cross-Platform, Cross-Browser Remote debugging is also possible
• Visual Studio is an award winning development platform that means you get the best development environment
• Silverlight provides content providers full control over your media
There is a noticeable improvement in speed for AJAX-enabled Web sites to start using Silverlight, leveraging the Microsoft platform. NET Framework.
Therefore, if you are looking to improve the quality of animation in them, if you want very little investment, with high scores and if you want to ease the development process should be used to develop Silverlight applications and take full the aforementioned advantages.

Silver light Development
Microsoft Silver light
Microsoft Silver light is a web application framework that provides functionalities similar to those in Adobe Flash, integrating multimedia, graphics, animations and interactivity into a single runtime environment. Initially released as a video streaming plugin, later versions brought additional interactivity features and support for List of CLI languages and development tools. The current version, 3.0, was released on July 9, 2009.
Silver light provides a retained mode graphics system similar to Windows Presentation Foundation, and integrates multimedia, graphics, animations and interactivity into a single runtime environment. In Silver light applications, user interfaces are declared in Extensible Application Markup Language (XAML) and programmed using a subset of the .NET Framework. XAML can be used for marking up the vector graphics and animations. Silver light sites or regions of sites are not searchable and index able by search engines so duplicate html content must be sent to search engine robots if site content is to be indexed. (This same html is also sent to users without Silver light installed). This is because there is no Silver light version of the Flash Headless Player for search engines which enables search engines like Google and Yahoo to index Flash content. Silver light can also be used to create Windows Sidebar gadgets for Windows Vista.
Silver light applications can be written in any .NET programming language. As such, any development tools which can be used with .NET languages can work with Silver light, provided they can target the Silver light CoreCLR for hosting the application, instead of the .NET Framework CLR. Microsoft has positioned Microsoft Expression Blend versions 2 and 2 SP1 for designing the UI of Silver light 1.0 and 2 applications respectively. Visual Studio 2008 can be used to develop and debug Silver light applications. To create Silver light projects and let the compiler target CoreCLR, Visual Studio 2008 requires the Silver light Tools for Visual Studio.
A Silver light project contains the Silverlight.js and CreateSilverlight.js files which initializes the Silver light plugin for use in HTML pages, a XAML file for the UI, and code-behind files for the application code. Silver light applications are debugged in a manner similar to ASP.NET applications. Visual Studio's CLR Remote Cross Platform Debugging feature can be used to debug Silver light applications running on a different platform as well.
In conjunction with the release of Silver light 2, Eclipse was added as a development tool option.
California and several other U.S. states also have asked a District Judge to extend most of Microsoft's antitrust case settlement for another five years, citing "a number of concerns, including the fear that Microsoft could use the next version of Windows to 'tilt the playing field' toward Silver light, its new Adobe Flash competitor," says a Seattle Post-Intelligencer article. The final judgment on the motion extended the settlement two years, to November 2009, but for reasons unrelated to Silver light. In Windows 7 the Silver light Web browser plugin is not installed automatically, but is a downloadable optional update through Windows update.
Microsoft has been criticized for not using the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard for Silver light, which, according to Ryan Paul of Ars Technical, is consistent with Microsoft's ignoring of open standards in other products, as well. However, according to David Betz, a .NET specialist and Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP), while it "seems to some to be a valid criticism and a good point to some of the web standards world, it is absolutely groundless and carries no weight." Microsoft would have had to alter the SVG specification in order to integrate it with .NET. Consequently, he thinks the "choice by Microsoft to use XAML over SVG, served to retain the SVG standard by not adding proprietary technology (to SVG)".
